| Clear Creek has been
a virtual office company since it was founded in 1994, even before the term
"virtual office" was widely known. Each employee's main office
is in his or her home, so the company doesn't need a central office where
its employees gather each day for work. The company provides computers,
development tools, network equipment, a phone line, and a high-speed Internet
connection for each home office. This connectivity allows the staff to collaborate
on projects with each other and our customers as easily as if they were
all located in adjacent cubicles. In fact, we routinely form highly efficient
project teams consisting of staff, partners, and customers, with individual
team members in three or four different cities. This is a very natural process
for us because it has been an integral part of our culture from the beginning.
The company does have a software development laboratory with a small
conference room, computers, a network, and a high-speed Internet connection.
As necessary, project team members meet there with their laptops, plug in
to the network, and perform integration testing or other activities that
benefit from face-to-face collaboration. (But most of the time, the lab
sits mournfully empty!) The lab also serves as our shipping address.
